IN THIS LESSON
In John’s vision of the new heaven and new earth, he writes, “there was no longer any sea” (v. 1). Why? The New Jerusalem is described as “a bride beautifully dressed for her husband” (v. 2). Why that image? What are the conditions for being the bride of Christ in Revelation? John hears a voice proclaim, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people!” But hasn’t God always been with humanity? Where else in the Bible do we see this idea? In verse 4, we hear an echo of Isaiah 25:8—a promise of hope: death, mourning, and pain will be no more. All of this is part of God’s new creation, as He declares, “Behold, I am making all things new” (v. 5). So, what in your life needs renewal? What might God want to make new in you?
