Romans Chapter 14
IN THIS LESSON
The Apostle Paul begins this passage by saying, “Do not, then, pass judgment on one another any longer” (v. 13). Why? What’s the issue here? Paul urges his readers to “avoid placing obstacles or stumbling blocks in front of a fellow family member” (v. 13). But what does he mean? Is he saying, “Avoid all conflicts at any cost”? Is he a moral relativist who believes “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”? If not, what was Paul’s—and the Roman church’s—context that made him speak in this way?
