Romans Chapter 14
IN THIS LESSON
Meat, again. Why does the issue of eating meat come up repeatedly in Paul’s letters? (cf. 1 Cor. 8) What is Paul’s suggestion—if not a solution—in this passage? He writes, “The one who eats must not look down on the one who does not eat, and the one who does not eat must not judge the one who does” (v. 3). Who are these people? Who are the “strong” and the “weak” in verse 2? What are “the days” Paul refers to in verses 5–6? And how does he resolve this tension? (cf. v. 6) What lessons can we draw from this discussion in today’s polarized world?
