IN THIS LESSON

John begins this passage by saying, “I saw no temple in the city” (v. 22). Why? The new Jerusalem is coming down from heaven, whereas popular Christian belief says the opposite—“We are going to heaven.” It is a City, not a Garden, although the image presented here is clearly that of Eden restored. Why is that? And although the gates are always open, not everyone can enter. What are the conditions for admission?
